GAMEPLAY INSTRUCTIONS

Goal
------------
The goal of WordWeb Deluxe is to make words, to fend off the spiders. Protect the Kids from becoming webbed up or it will be game over.

The Basics
------------
The goal is to create words by linking letters on the board together. To select a letter, just click on it. The select another letter adjacent to the first in any direction, then another adjacent to that, until you have formed a valid word of at least 3 letters in length. When you have a valid word, click the Submit Bar and it will remove those letters from the screen for points, the letters will then be replaced with new ones.
Spell your own words, during the game for every word you submit depending on its value you will earn Letter Tokens. For every Letter Token earned you can select a letter from the Letter Pool; move your cursor (it will change to the Letter selected) and place it over a letter on the board you want to change. Click and than space will change to the new letter. You can place on your turn as many letters from the Letter Pool as you have Letter Tokens. Run out of Tokens you will need to find words on the board to earn more.
There are only a few spaces on the board you are not allowed to place Letters. The Kids spaces, Iron spaces, and spaces were you cant see the Letter because there is a web covering it; these are called Webbed over tiles.

You can tell your word is valid by looking at the Submit bar while you are spelling itif there is a point value beside the word being spelled then it is a valid word for submission.
Letters must be adjacent, and you cant backtrack on already selected lettersmall red arrows will show you the path of the word youre creating.

Interface Tips
---------------
You can also Submit a word by double-clicking on the last letter in a word selected.
If you want to deselect a letter or word, just right click else were on the board or for one button mouse Ctrl + click.

You can also create a word by clicking and dragging a pathclick on the first letter and hold the mouse down, then move the cursor over the letters in the word you want to make. If its a valid word double-click on the last letter in that word or click the Submit bar.

Kids
---------------
When the webs on the board get next to the Kids spaces they will start to flash. There are 3 level of danger; Yellow means that a web has just landed next to one of the Kids, Orange means it would be in your best interest to spell a word using one or more of the webs surrounding the Kids, to clear them away; Red means that one or more of the webs surrounding the Kids has turned red, that means on your next turn if you dont clear those webs, the Kids will be webbed over and you game will be over. Remember if you have more than one of the Kids on the board, it only takes one of the Kids to become webbed over, and its game over. Protect them all.

Bonus Words
----------------
Starting the second level you will see a Bonus Word come up in the upper right hand side of the board. If you complete the Bonus Word you will be rewarded with points and you cursor will turn into a web bomb. You need to use that bomb during your next turn, mover the cursor around to find the best location for you to place that bomb. Bombs will clear away all tiles that its placed on and then replace them with new ones. Its a great way to clear up some of the web tiles on the board, and remove some unwanted special tiles. Bomb tile will not affect the Kids tiles a good thing to use if the Kids become surrounded.

Reward Tiles
----------------
Through out the game depending on the length of words you are spelling and what level you are on, you will start to see Gem tiles appear on the board, each different Gem tile will increase the score of the word you are submitting. Using more than one in a word will really increase the value of that word. Remember you can use the Letter Pool to change the letter on that Gem tile to really up your score.
Special Tiles

Other tiles that appear on the board can help you in some cases and can hurt you in some case. Iron tiles can only be removed from the board by a web bomb, and the value of the Iron tile remains the same no matter how many words you spell with it. The Egg tile is on that should be avoided at all costs, if used in a word it will turn all the tiles used in that word to webbed tiles. Wild tiles will help you fill in missing letters.

GAME MODES
_____________________________

After the game loads, you will see a screen allowing you to choose House Cleaning or Survival.

House Cleaning Mode
--------------------
In a quiet house, on the outskirts of a quiet town, something has gone terribly wrong. A rogue science experiment has created ten super-intelligent mutant spiders, and now you must aid the kids in the house by trapping all ten spiders before they reach the kids. Word Web brings together the game play of traditional word search games, and combines it with the ability to construct your own words.

In House Cleaning Game you are helping the Kids remove all the spiders from all the rooms in the house. Sounds easy enough.
Each room is home to a different spider, who youll meet once you have worked your way through the room. At the start of each level you will be given 3 word markers each tell you how many words of a certain length you need to spell. Clear all the word markers and you can move to the next level. Spelling longer words than shown in the word markers removes the next longest word you have remaining.

As you move through the house more Kids will appear on the board, so you must keep them safe at all times, or it could be game over.

Survival Mode
-----------------------
Survival its all about lasting as long as you can against the spiders, to get to that next level.

The longer and more valuable words will get you to the next level faster. But be warned the higher in levels you go the faster the webs spread and the more Kids you need to manage. It will be a benefit to build up your letter tokens for the latter levels when things get crazy.

HIGH SCORES
___________________________________

On the Title Screen, there is a High Scores button that will take you to a High Scores page. This High Scores page ranks the top ten Total Score positions for both House Cleaning and Survival modes. The High Scores page allows you to view the top ten scores Locally, on a Global Daily basis and on a Global Monthly basis.

Selecting either the Global Daily or Global Monthly tabs will let you submit and see the high scores and ranks players have achieved from around the world!

AVATARS
____________________________________
You will be asked to create an account so that you may edit your profile and save your newly created Avatar. Once you have created your avatar you then can use the same username and password in WordWeb Deluxe so the game remembers your Avatar and will be shown in the local and global High Score Tables.

GAME PLAY TIPS

Scoring
------------------
You score points based on the length of your word and the rarity of the letters in it. Letters on plain tiles are the most common, and worth the least points. Letters will dot below them are rarer, and worth more points. Two to three dots be low the letter indicates an even rarer letter = more points. Four dots indicates the most difficult and valuable letters. The value of a word is based on its length, the rarity of the letters used. Bonus points are given when Gems are used in a word. Gems increase the value of the letter on that tile, the more Gems the bigger the score.

Letter Pool
--------------------
When the Letter Pool located on the left hand side of the screen is open a player can take a letter from the pool and replace it with one on the board. The Letter Pool stays open as long as you have Tokens. Every time you drop a letter from the pool to the board you use 1 Token. Us as many letters as you have Tokens in a turn.

Tokens
---------------------
Tokens keeps the Letter Pool open, the more tokens you have the more letters you are allowed to drop on the board. Use one or them all in a turn, its up to you. Tokens are earned depending on the length and value of the word. There are also Token tiles that will show up on the board, so if you need extra use a Token tile in a word and get an instant boost.

Shuffle
---------------------
If you dont like the way the letters are laid out on the board, use the Shuffle. It will cost you 1 Token and you Letter Pool needs to be open to use it.

Clear Bonus
----------------------
If you happen to clear all the webs off the board during the game you will receive a Clear Bonus, this earns you points and adds tokens to your letter pool. The board will remain clear until the spider drops down more webs.

Web Spreading
----------------------
To stop spiders from spreading their webs, use the webbed tiles in words to clear it, an return it to a normal tile. If a spider webs over a tile and you can not see the letter any more, watch out. Next turn this tile will spread in all directions. You can stop or block the spread by spelling a word around the webbed over tile or by spelling a word next to it. A spider can not spread to a tile that was just used in a turn.

PERFORMANCE TIPS
____________________________________

- Exit all other applications that may be running.

- Turn off the Windows taskbar clock. This feature continually interrupts Windows
to update the time and can cause poor playback performance. To turn the taskbar
clock off:
1. Right click on the taskbar and select Properties.
2. Uncheck the box labeled Show Clock.
3. Click OK.

- Turn off any screen savers using the following steps:
1. Right click on the Windows desktop and select Properties.
2. Select the Screen Saver tab from the Display Properties window.
3. From the list of available screen savers, select None.
4. Click OK.

- Turn off any system monitoring software. Many systems come with utilities that
display your computer's use of resources such as CPU, RAM, disk usage, etc. These
utilities also interrupt the operating system and video playback.

- If using a laptop computer make sure it is not set for lower power usage and
plugged into AC for maximum speed.

- Gameplay is enhanced by using a mouse with laptop.
